The tumor necrosis-factor superfamily – essential signal transducers which are also implicated in disease
Studied for over forty years, July¡¯s molecule of the month needs no introduction. The tumor necrosis-factor (TNF)-superfamily, consisting of 19 ligands which signal through 29 different receptors in humans, are involved in regulating normal physiological functions such as innate and adaptive immune responses, hematopoiesis and morphogenesis. TNF ligands have also been implicated in a wide range of disease conditions.
Our latest blog post discusses the physiological role of TNF-superfamily members, their role in various malignancies and – given the growing number of therapeutics currently in clinical development – the importance of high quality, trusted reagents to support this work.
