Coronavirus is now a global level risk. Many cases seem to be spread from asymptomatic patients.
There's a huge drawback for nucleic acid detection for SARS-CoV-2. It only gives a positive result when the virus is still present. Antibody tests, also called serological tests, can confirm whether someone was infected before. That is to say, the antibody test result could be positive even if a PCR test of a suspected case is negative.
According to the latest coronavirus diagnosis guidance in China, suspected cases can be ruled out if the test results meet the two conditions.
•
The nucleic acid test is negative twice in a row. (The sampling time interval is at least 24 hours.)
•
SARS-CoV-2 specific antibodies IgM and IgG are still negative 7 days after onset of the disease.
It's crucial to develop accurate tests to contain the outbreak. GenScript is now providing a series of coronavirus proteins and antibodies to support the development of detection kits, vaccines and therapeutic drugs.
