 SARS- CoV-2 (2019-nCoV) is a new type of coronavirus (highly identical at the whole-genome level to a bat coronavirus) identified as the cause of an outbreak of the respiratory illness first detected in Wuhan, China. Early on, many patients in the epicenter of the outbreak (Wuhan, China) reportedly had some links with a large seafood and live animal market, suggesting animal-to-human spillover.
