SNP stands for Single Nucleotide Polymorphism. SNPs are molecular genetic markers (mostly point mutations) that have integrated in the gene pool of a population. SNP's are used in human medicine, agriculture as well as biology to associate sections of the genome with phenotypic traits for diagnostic purposes, breeding and diversity research.
Genaxxon's SNP Pol DNA Polymerase is a highly selective DNA polymerase specifically designed for specific discrimination of alleles or single nucleotides. Thus, it distinguishes between correctly and mismatched primer-template complexes very accurately and only yields PCR products if the primers at the 3' end match the template exactly. Depending on the primer design, both positive and negative selection can be performed.
The SNP Pol DNA polymeraseis therefore ideally suited for SNP detection, genotyping (e.g. HLA), mutant analysis in CRISPR/Cas9 technology or the analysis of single CpG methylation sites.
