Anti-idiotype (anti-ID) antibodies bind specifically to an idiotope of another antibody. Complementarity-determining region (CDR), or idiotype can determine the antigen specificity of the antibody, which can be the actual antigen-binding site or comprise variable region sequences outside of the antigen-binding site on the antibody itself. Detection-based anti-ID antibodies can be classified into detect free antibody, detect bound antibody, detect total antibody, and detect T cell receptor.
