Membrane proteins constitute over thirty percent of all proteins in the human genome and play a vital role in many cellular functions. As such, they represent most current drug targets. Due to their low natural abundance and highly complicated structure, obtaining recombinant membrane proteins with native conformation and bio-activity has always been challenging.
To develop stable cell lines that express membrane proteins, the relative encoding gene fragments are cloned into lentiviral vectors. The generated recombinant vectors are introduced into mammalian cells. After enlarging cultivation and several rounds of screening, the target cells are collected.
