Magnetic Particles: Applications in Biomedical Separation and Purification
Magnetic particles usually refer to materials composed of magnetite (Fe3O4) or magnetite (Gamma-Fe2O3), with sizes ranging from sub-nanometers to micrometers, and are responsive to external magnetic fields. There are many types of magnetic particles, each with different binding properties due to different surface coatings and chemical modifications. They can be used for simple and effective magnetic separation (or purification) of nucleic acids, proteins, or other biological molecules. Their ease of use makes them automation friendly and very suitable for a range of applications, including sample preparation for next-generation sequencing (NGS) and PCR, protein purification, molecular and immunodiagnostics, and magnetic-activated cell sorting (MACS).
Here, we summarize the application of magnetic particles in sample separation and purification. Corresponding products from Creative Diagnostics are also recommended.
