Claudin 18.2 (CLDN18.2), an isoform of CLDN18, is a tissue restricted marker that is expressed only in short-lived differentiated cells of the gastric mucosa. Aberrantly activated Claudin 18.2 is frequently observed in gastric cancer, pancreatic adenocarcinoma, esophageal, ovarian and lung cancer. Claudin 18.2 is the most well-studied Claudin family protein and has become a hot spot for research on molecular targets of antitumor drugs.
